The transformation at the beginning of Dragon Ball Z where Vegeta assumes himself into a Great Ape is an important action. The event happens while the suspended site in Planet Namek is going on fire between the strongest warriors from Frieza, Vegeta, and Goku.
Here, Vegeta acting against the odds made himself join hands with Goku and other Z-Fighters against nothing but the powerful tyrant Frieza from the wishes produced by Namekian Dragon Balls. But basically, Vege glass’s Saiyan image has its unending thirst for power that cannot be resisted.
While the battle wages on, Vegeta notices that the henchmen of Frieza managed to finish reviving the Namekian moon, a magic catalyst where the transformation would take effect for any Saiyan. Without wasting time, Vastly looking upwards the full moon, he lets the blood of his Saiyan race to take serious charge into his bloodstream.
Dramatically, Vegeta’s body begins to expand rapidly and mutation occurs; bulging muscles and extremely animalistic facial features. Before long, to the stunned onlookers, the all-mighty Great Ape stands Above the site where all battles rage, the mighty Great Ape Vegeta showers powerful energy blasts and physical attacks madly swatting aside Goku and everybody else like meaningless insects.
The only way Goku can stop Vegeta from rampaging is to destroy the newly restored moon, cutting off the source for the Saiyan transformation. After the punishing contest, Goku was able to shoot a beam of energy so powerful that the moon was shattered, resulting in Vegeta turning back to his normal state.
Energy drained and reverting back to his arrogant villain self, Vegeta retreats, promising to someday overtake Goku and reclaim his rightful power as the most powerful of the Saiyan warriors. This is so transformative and symbolic that an entire major twist in the storyline occurred: it showed the incredible strength of Vegeta-the eternal fight between his Saiyan, ruthless self, and a true hero wannabe.
